That factor, which renders the figures supplied completely false, is widely reported. Here are but two examples (both from Indians, first opinionated but explanatory of why the lack of reporting of rape, the second is a news article that offers much more realistic figures, and shows the extent of paedophilia in India, which is now rapidly becoming the paedophile capital of the world after the more traditional destinations for these scum are being cleaned up by government action whilst the Indian government turns a blind eye in aid of copping more "tourist" dollars, although it appears that since 1 in 5 rapes officially in India are of children, it seems paedophilia is pretty damn common with the locals too which is a shameful situation for any country).
'Whereas in the West society is generally sympathetic towards victims of rape, in India we tend to treat perpetrator and victim on par. From the police to courts to the neighbours, the atbreastude is roughly the same: even if she didn't ask for it, she is now damaged goods, too dirty to take her place in decent society. Small wonder then that even middle clbutt women who could easily go to the police prefer to keep quiet. '
'Official data shows that two women are raped somewhere in India every hour. In fact, one in every five is not even a woman, but a child.
The reality, all women's groups aver, is much, much worse. As Flavia Agnes, lawyer and secretary of Majlis, a Mumbai-based group, puts it, "What you see is just the tip of the iceberg."
But how mbuttive is the iceberg? A survey done in Punjab a few years ago came up with the shocking finding that for every case reported, 68 go unreported.
The exact number may be disputed, but the fact that only a tiny fraction of rapes actually comes to light is universally acknowledged. '

Now going by the figures from the Times of India, if they are correct, we could surmise that the real as opposed to reported figure is actually 0.988 per 1,000 people, which would put India at number two, only exceeded by South Africa, I think that is probly much closer to the truth of the matter in a caste based society where everyone is afraid.
