What really happened: The supposedly free press, fortified by the academic indoctrination of its latest crop of journalists and acting in concert with the two nominally opposing "mainstream" political parties, closed ranks to block the plebs' attempt at input to the so-called "public discourse" of their nation. That was a blatant exploitation of the fact that the Australian people traditionally had faith in the overall mix of their public insbreastutions. They were never prepared for the possibility that foreign-inspired individuals might be able to get away with hijacking those insbreastutions and perverting their functiion contrary to the Australian public's own commonly understood values and aspirations. Trust is what has been abused and destroyed. Why do you think politicians and journalists are now rated near the bottom of professions when ranked according to ethics and trustworthiness by the Australian public?
I don't recall "the PHONies" trying to make immigration an issue. I do recall Pauline Hanson (before the PHONie white-ants jumped on board what they thought would make a wonderful gravy train) giving voice to a few widespread but hitherto publicly gagged criticisms of "Multicultural Australia" alluding to the way it encouraged certain ethnic groups to remain apart from and actively discouraged from adopting values compatible with the normal Aussie values and way of life.

Labor pretends to champion "victims" to the extent it is quite prepared to create more whenever it looks in danger of running out. On this occasion they created victims alright, but blamed the victims and tried to gag their cries of distress as old neighbourhoods broke down and the former inhabitants were forced to move on by the ethnic-centeredness of Labor's imported block votes. Never was a sell-out so literal to the name. Quisling may have been no better, but neither was he any worse.
