Another question comes to mind.
There are much easier ways for drugs to be smuggled domestically such in the back of a truck where searches are less prevanlent than through airports in which they are higher in security. You can stash a larger bag of cannabis behind the spare truck's tyre or within the cargo.
A truck can stop outside the city or virtually any area to drop off the cannabis and then keep continue on to their destination without arousing suspicion where as in an airport situation, security is very high and and extremely limited.
The people we are talking about are the pawns in the organised criminal gangs not the top end. Most of these people are looking for a quick buck to pay off debts etc. so crime is the easiest way to obtain that.
If they were not as lazy, they could quite readily make some money without criminal activity and secondly be smart enough not to get themselves into that situation
I weighed my friend's boogey board and with the cover it weighs a total of 3.4 kg. When you pick up a boogey board at Denpensar airport, you will notice that 120% increase of weight immediately and most likely open it there and then to see what's in it (as niave as she claims), not when an officer asks you.
I have been doing that for quite a while. I actually ask the desk personal to write the total luggage weight on the actual ticket (there is actually space for that but many airport check in staff generally leave it out). Inital it with her ID number. Should there be a descrepency in weights, I then have clear evidence that any "extra weight" would be easily matched with that descrepency.
Before the service of wrapping, I used to purchase glad wrap and wrap it myself and place a large A4 size tamperproof label (that is fluorescent coloured for identifying it) from Officeworks to keep the wrap in place.
That is true but the old scout role, "be prepared" and maybe learning through my travels in Asia to always have a back up plan for when things goes wrong.
