Police stats in Victoria says that crimes went down but violent crimes went up. It just means that common criminal activity are not being reported hardly any more or the police in Victoria are doing anything about it so the stats are just political bullpoo.
That is where it is different in Singapore as that the police does follow up and usually the culprits are caught. The police presence are constantly around during the night over there
There are many other reasons.
I use common sense to keep my and my family rather safe but I will retire in Singapore or Malaysia and take all my money out of Australia.

They may be evil but they are not within the juristiction of Australia. If you go to another country, you have to respect their laws regardless if you like it or not.
When I am in Saudi Arabia or the UAE, and see money on the street, I never pick it up because if it happens to be dropped by the person before me, it could be insinuated as stealing. Punishment is a loss on my hand.
I don't like their laws but I am smart enough to work around it to ensure that I don't get myself into trouble.

Problem is that Indonesia is not under Australia's laws nor do we have a right to pervert the cause of their law as much as Indonesia hasn't the right to pervert the cause of our laws.
Well you haven't a f***ing clue about other countries, their culture or their laws. You are blinded that Australia's laws are the only just law in the world. You seem to forget that other countries has other views and laws and you fail on every occasion to respect their laws despite you like them or not.
The fact of the matter is that Indonesia has their laws and you or I haven't the right to pervert their justice.
The only protection I give is the justice over there. I don't agree entirely with their justice but it is THEIR justice and there is nothing that you or I can do about it. A suggestion is that you don't go to that country as your protest.
