Hmm, good point.. :)
They cant possibly fit the bolt cutters in their pockets with 4.1kg of smoko already in there !!
You're missing the point, which I hadnt thought of before. It's very likely that if these 'organised' syndicates are capable of stashing large quanbreasties of drugs in unsuspecting persons luggage, that they also have the means to do so with ease, so a pair of bolt cutters (hell in this case, a pair of pliers with cutters) would be easily stored and utilised.

Im glad to say that my parents never de-locked me....
Firstly, where do you get that from, that the psychology of many criminals are lazy ? Far from it, from my experience, and I speak of it from first hand experience, LDL. Growing up where and how I did, I've met all sorts of crims.
Kiwi gangs such as black power and mongrel mob bikers, coffin cheaters, speed manufacturers and dealers, bank robbers, dope growers and suppliers, gun dealers, about the only sort I've not met are rapists and liquidateers (that I know of..) and thank f*** for that. About the only lazy ones I've encountered are smack junkies, and even they get motivated when they have to sell smoko to get on.
There is a lot at stake if these cyndicates are operating as they appear to be. There has already been one alleged rest, of someone who was to blow the whistle on what he thought was corruption in the baggage handling scenario.
These guys would be far from the local bloke at the pub selling sticks to customers. These guys wouldnt be the lazy sort.
I see your point however, but the end result is all that matters, wether it takes 30 seconds or 2 minutes.
They dont expect the drugs to get caught. So in that regard, I agree. Ease of planting and ease of removal is the best method. No one would want to stuff around if the drugs were to be removed before any suspicion was aroused. However, it's still not completely out of the question.
All rather moot really, given that in the Corby case, her baggage wasnt locked. But then, I would buttume most people who travel, lock their baggage to keep it safe from theft, and the thought of others using them as drug mules isnt highly considered. Id probably have done the same.
Again, most people going on holiday probably wouldnt have considered this, prior to the Corby case.
You can bet your bottom dollar that they will now !!
Imagine the shock to find someone *HAD* planted 4.1kg of dope in your baggage however. To set a precident like that, is something I'd not wish on anyone who was truely innocent.
Illegal transportation of a cooking utensil. You might have been making homebake in it !!!!11!11oneoneone
Little did he realise that if you connect a few wires, some copper tubing, a 9 volt battery and some olive oil, you'd have been communicating with the new world order in no time !!
