Another supposed "IT shortage" immigration the sellout "solution" yet again. 380

I sort of suspect the uni's had a hand in competency based training initially, although if they did (pardon my conspiracy theory here) it will probly backfire and bite them in the arse. For years there's been "infighting" in WA because TAFE used to offer things like the "buttociate diploma of computer programming" which was a f***ing hard course, and the graduates were considered on a par if not above the uni grads who were more interested in partying and joining whatever political or social clubs the uni had to offer.

Suddenly the federal wankers dumb us down and say "sorry, you need to come under federal guidelines and the new national competency based training system", which effectively meant throwing anything worth a poo in the bin and making sure people could set up basic databases, write basic frontends and turn on a computer, not a hell of a lot more. Basically end the course, and they did the same across the board, not just with IT. The Uni's I'm sure were laughing all the way to the bank.

The problem is it's now getting worse, now it looks like competency based training is going to hit the secondary schools. Pbutt-fail doesn't mean poo (oh sorry, "competency achieved or not achieved", we must be politically correct mustn't we... f***ers...) You can be as thick as 2 planks and qualify now, which means our education might as well be "pay for a degree-diploma". We're f***ed pretty much, and I don't blame people who would prefer to hire from overseas if they can't get anything on paper from local that will prove someone's skill at the entry levels. I hope the Uni's are never forced to go down the competency based training path, because that will be the end of education in this country.
