Is this Mr Howard the Prime Minister or some Bacteriologist named Mr Howard?

"Bacillus bacteria are ubiquitous in nature and can form roughly spherical spores when conditions are stressful in order to survive in a dormant state for extended periods. There exist a huge number of species in this genus, most of which are harmless."

it goes on to say:

"An easy way to isolate a Bacillus species is by placing non-sterile soil in a test tube with water, shake, place in melted mannitol salts agar, and incubate at room temperature for at least a day."

I bet you could get the same result if you used bullpoo instead of non-sterile soil.

Well I'll do that Fasi, you can run up and down your street screaming and I'll yawn and listen to AM to hear what brewed.

Prowling in the dark with a loaded gun got pbutte after a while. Checkpoint duty when there were daily dissolution plantings was exciting. Watching some fool kick a suspicious parcel outside a hangar made my pulse race. Call me jaded, but hearing about people getting an unidentified white powder in the mail just doesn't get the adrenaline pumping.

David Moss Dave was arguing that my condemnation of the person attack, repeated here by the PM, is running "up and down your street screaming " and he presents his own refusal to condemn...

Oh I condemn it unreservedly. Sending anything through the mail with the intent to cause fear and distress is a shameful crime. Sending something though the mail with the intent to cause injury is even worse.

Lets wait till the bugs brew up and see which it was in this case.

BTW, on a similar issue, I had a bloke round a couple of weeks back selling on-farm microbe incubators. Perfect for a WMD campaign but even better for enriching the soil.

Did you know, there are members of the dreaded bacillus group that can rip the phosphorous out of soft rock phosphate and turn it into soluable form? No need for all that nasty sulphuric acid and superphosphate. Just add Bacillus megaterium and Bacillus polymyxa to your otherwise insoluable rock phosphate and pray for rain.

I was thinking of getting one but I wouldn't want a cruise missile hitting my chook shed should the Yanks find out about it.
