Oh come off it David! All it indicates is apathy - a laziness and aversion to voting (ie "voting only encourages the bastards"). It is pure redneckery to suggest "not being a citizen is being disloyal to the nation" as you imply.
So bloody what? Why should that be seen as "disloyal" in any way? The term "Old Dart" is an Australianism, or more accurately, an ANZAC term as it is also used in NZ (how much more "Aussie" can it get?). It is first found used in an Adelaide newspaper, dating back in 1892, where it stated: "He was from England ... He is one of the sort who return to the old dart and say that fruit-growing here is a failure" (no doubt an old way of saying "whinging pom"). However it is now also used by local born people as a ref to the "mother country".
It has nothing to do with "Dartmoor Prison" but refers to a usage in a local English dialect where "dart" (pronunciation) had the meaning "dirt" - eg as in "pay dirt". The Irish use "old sod" for their district or country. So "Old Dart" - an ANZAC term refers to the old country. It must then make the ANZACS "disloyal" by that nonsensical sort of "logic".
You know there is a serious fallacy in this nonsense you present. NO local born are required to swear allegiance to the nation in any way at all. THEY do not go through ANY formal - or form of ceremony as is required of immigrants. That is to say THEY are NO BETTER than any other person with residency status - in fact it would be fair to say they must be a step BELOW the immigrant using that sort of "clbuttifying" of people. After all the IMMIGRANT has made a conscious choice to come and live in this country. The local born is here merely by pure accident, not choice!
So stop your sneering at non-citizen residents, as LOGICALLY such a migrant has a much greater respect for this nation that some pee-ant born here who couldn't give a stuff other than to whine about migrants!
snip remainder of the redneckery
Australia deport Australian citizens 1121I agree with you but to a point.. Having a condition that they should be Australian citizens takes away that freedom of choice. The same circumstances then could be said to many America that also...
