Actually Aboriginals seem to have come from 3-4 different waves of immigrantion; some sharing more in common with Melanesians and some with Indonesians. You can see that Kooris vary from other tribes not only in skin darkness but body size.
Aborigonals were a tribal society; their racial variation, skin type taboos, low level of intertribal organisation, low level of communication, 180 disparate language groops and dispersal probably doesn't suit the definition of nation: they simply weren't conscious of it. Throw together a bunch of Europeans they would make a nation very quickly.
There were about one million anglo-saxons and about 5000 Norman colonisers. It was tragic for the anglo-saxons. People no longer owned their own land but were told that they did so at the pleausure of the crown. Promogeniture (firts born men inheiting all) came in and women no longer had equal right of inheritence. Anglo-Saxons were marginialised and english began to be driven underground. Neverthelss the Normans were Germanic derived people just like the Vikings, Jutes, Angles, Saxons etc.
I never included Aboriginies as a creative force in shapping the nations fundemental character. They are part of it but they becuase of their small numbers and lack of sophistication did little but provide qaint objects like boomerangs and some good stockmen. Australias insbreastutions, its laws, its jurisprudence and its society are White in character.
If they were Aborignal we'd be spearing each other as punishments and arranging polygamous marriage of teenage girls according to skin groups and having penile bifurcation batmitzvahs.
