Except some ethnic enclaves, like Cronulla, where excessive homogeneity has seen terrible racist violence.
(It started in Germany in the 30's in the same way, with Nazis manipulating drunken yobbos to stereotype and attack ethnic minorities, while the establishment elite though they could use them for electoral advantage... till it was too late. )
No No No.. thats where the timid and frightened xenophobes simply don't understand... by making people feel WELCOME (friendliness and tolerance) and comfortable (free, to think speak and act as they wish, (WITHIN THE LAW) to practice THEIR ownreligion, or traditions, or music.. by being ACCEPTING rather than threatening, they become part of our already diverse society! (eg it's always had diversity: ProtestantCatholic, so adding Buddhist is simply increasing the richness of the already diverse cultural mix.
And it works! The violence occurred NOT IN MULTICULTURAL SPRINGVALE.. but in homogenious Cronulla!
