Ok, from a government report:
"In their 1994 report on Street Gangs , Pulse consultants noted that ÒMuch is made of the ethnic make up of many gangs.Ó However in their study they found that Òethnic bases are overplayed and are declining (with the exceptions of Lebanese and Vietnamese gangs).Ó71
Whilst they found that ethnic bases were declining they stated that Òpure ethnic gangsÓ were a greater cause for concern than other groups:
The mostly pure ethnic gangs are, however, of greater concern than mixed race groups. This is because they have cultural and other ties to maintain them. They are more likely to last and grow. They are also more difficult for Police to break.72 "
As for the overall percentages being low for both the Vietnamese and Lebanese communities, I said as much myself when I said "we've copped it big-time from small parts of both the Lebanese and Vietnamese refugee intake, the majority of their communities are law-abiding but unfortunately refugee intake brings in a pooload of poobags".
Most Vietnamese and most Lebanese do the right thing, but the immense problem posed by both Lebanese and Vietnamese crime gangs are not present with immigrants from elsewhere in the world. We don't have major problems with Indonesian-Malaysian-Egyptian-Syrian-German-French-English etc.etc.etc. crime gangs, we have them with Lebanese and Vietnamese crime gangs, which are the only two countries to my knowledge that we have had large refugee intakes from in the past.
