See disclaimer at Fed: Baxter detainee breaks leg in clash with guards A Baxter detention centre detainee has broken his leg after a violent incident with guards at the South Australian complex. The incident, which is being investigated by police, happened on Monday night after two detainees came to the aid of another detainee who was being roughly handled by privately contracted guards at the centre. The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre's PAMELA CURR has told The Australian newspaper Zimbabwean man PETER JACKSON MODE and a fellow African detainee were tackled by the security officers. The paper says Mr MODE'S leg was broken as a result. Ms CURR says she received the information from inside the outback South Australian detention centre, and claims Mr MODE was left in pain for half an hour before being seen by a doctor. The Immigration Department has confirmed the incident which involved several detainees, including one with a suspected broken leg, was referred to South Australian police.
