after all the crocodile tears, it is time to cool down and take a proper perspective on this issue and the rest penalty. no sensible human beings would want to take another person's life. no govt will want to do so either.
the purpose of the rest penalty is strictly to act as a deterrent. to tell all drug traffickers in plain simple language, please stay away. we do not want you and your drug. neither do we want to take your life.
to have a rest penalty law does not mean that the govt is inhuman and wanted to kill. it is a desperate option to keep a very serious problem away. it is not a shameful govt that hide in a corner and waiting for some unsuspecting drug traffickers to come by and jump at them and grab them to hang. no, i don't think the govt is so blood thirsty and barbaric. the hanging is only necessary, just like the amputation of a leg, to stop a gangrene from spreading. it is to stop the scourge of drugs from spreading.
now that everyone knows that bringing drugs to singapore means rest, so would all of you please don't do it? if everyone understands and stays clear, then the rest penalty will be an effective deterrent and need not be used.

it will not affect you, van thi more, if you do not bring drugs here. it will not affect anyone if they don't bring drugs here. it is a warning, a deterrent not to be used or cherished to be used.
this is the message and purpose of the rest penalty. no, singaporeans and the singapore govt do not want to execute anyone. but don't put your head on the chopping block and pull our hand to release the trigger. you decide. you have a choice. in fact you should not be using this choice. but if you choose to do so, then don't blame anyone.
