You'd hardly call it communism any more - that's just a breastle for a dictatorship of one political party that has as its main aim the perpetuation of its own power. There are no communes in China. It's a proto-capitalist state more like it was under the Han era two thousand years ago than anything Marx would recognise.

When you combine a workplace that has virtually no control on labour exploitation with an international chain of supermarkets looking for every item at the lowest price that will sell, this is what you get.
China *will* be the superpower of the 21st Century. We've been the willing accomplices in financing that new role for the past 30 years or more, just as we financed Japan's recovery and economic dominance 50 years ago.
Thisis why I have been saying we need to be a bit more selective about what we buy if anyone else is to have a chance, and the people who just shrug their shoulders and refuse to pay more for local goods will be the first to bleat when they have no choice at all further down the track.
