BLOODY QUEENSLANDERS....... 317
That is far too simplistic. Study any FTA with Oz, especially the area of agricultural subsidy, to find why it costs $3.00 instead of $5.00 for a bag of anything O-S. Example 1...

Well, I was a farmer and here is a tale of clbuttic bureaucratic bullpoo.

Several years ago there was an inquiry into how to make the Queensland Sugar industry more compebreastive etc.

Just to put you in the picture, in case you aren't aware........ When you plant sugar-cane it is called "plant cane", after the first harvest the sugar cane regrows and is called "ratoon cane". Obviously it is much more expensive to plant "plant cane" as you need to properly cultivate the soil, purchase-obtain the planting material, use extra (and more expensive) fertiliser to get the crop established, use more pre-emergent herbicides etc to get the crop established and often more frequent irrigation to ensure a healthy crop.

The number of "ratoon crops" varies, and with today's practices and newer varieties of cane, perhaps a "plant crop" and 5 "ratoons".

Well, the illustrious bureaucratic idiots decided that the best thing for the sugar industry was to "only grow ratoon crops" as the profit margin was so much higher than growing "plant cane"! LOL!!!! What a bunch of retards! I still can't figure out how you can get "ratoon crops" without "planting" sugar cane in the first place!

And these are the same idiots that are running so many different facets of our lives..... Do you feel safe?

The sooner we get some people with some intelligence in government the better because at the moment I feel we are all doomed ;-)
