There is no way to solve crime only by increasing police brutality. Crime has social, mental health and economic causes. Not even regimes with the worst kind of brutality (torture, amputation of limbs, gruesome ends) have ever been able to defeat criminality without dealing with the underlying issues.
The drug problem demonstrates this quite plainly:
Drug users create a demand criminals are eager to satisfy! You have to be blind not to understand that this criminal bevaiour is plainly demand driven. No demand, no drug market. Even if you kill people by the millions you will not stop this illegal trade! That is why sane people are calling for a different way of solving this problem!
Legalising all drugs can destroy the criminal drug market with the stroke of a pen! This will not solve the usage problem! But governments have other resources besides police, the judiciary, the penal insbreastutions and the army to deal with the problem.
Essentially drugs are a health issue! The pharmaceutical idustry can supply standard quality drugs of all kinds at reasonable prices! Social workers and the medical profession can monitor drug use. People misusing drugs can be helped by special programs of treating addiction and realted health issues!
And it even saves tax payers money!
