Hmmm. They are no longer seen as "colonial masters", having given up much, if not all of their former colonies. Yet they are still prosperous nations, and democratic ones as well. Next!
You are confused about the timeline of American history. The diseases you refer to mostly struck most Native tribes within the first 100-200 years of European contact, long before the United States became a nation. Millions died in that time, mostly due to disease, but also because of warfare - some of which was instigated by conflicts with settlers, and some of which was ongoing and had roots in tribal conflicts that predated Columbus. The Arapaho, for instance, fought with other Plains Indians for hundreds of years prior to first contact with Europeans. Several Eastern tribes had ongoing conflicts as well.
And whether you want to believe it or not, most Native Americans today consider themselves to be just as American as any other American (my step-daughters are half Navaho). Native Americans are fighting in Iraq today (Private Lori Piestewa became the first Native American woman to die in combat on foreign soil - she died fighting in Iraq -
and are doing so voluntarily. They are just as patriotic (some more so) than any other American. Native Americans (Mohawks) built the steel framework for the World trade Center buildings, and were just as outraged as every other American when we were so visciously attacked. Several worked there, and died there in the attack. We have Native Americans in Congress, Native Americans in the judiciary, Native Americans in our State governments, and even Native Americans as governors. They may be aboriginal, and have a level of autonomy, but they are still Americans, U.S. citizens, and most, if not all, wish to be treated as such.
Of course not, because it is not true that it is not a result of democracy. If you think that America was prosperous prior to its founding, you know nothing of American history.
The Japan of WWII no longer exists. It was pounded to rubble. The Japan that exists today is prosperoous because it is a democratic state.
This is mostly incorrect. Many of Japan's brightest people were end during the war.
That was agreed under the terms of surrender. All the allies signed the terms of surrender. If you have a problem with that, complain to your government.
Is that a fact? How, pray tell, was Japan going to counter the communist block when it had, and still has, no effective Army?
Rampant, uncontrolled population increase, and one billion + mouths to feed tend to have that affect. Imagine what India would be like under a communist dictator. Yeah, sure, there would be the requisite purges to reduce the population (not unlike what Stalin and Mao did), and then there would be the inevidable slide into the worst kind of poverty imaginable, even worse than they have today. Then you'd have a huge rebellion on your hands.
Fact: The USSR no longer exists. Fact: it no longer exists because the system didn't work. If it had worked, it would still exist.
Chechnya is part of Russia. As such, it had no right to unilaterally cecede from Russia. The UN doesn't recognize its independance. There were no talks with the Russians or anyone else, and no diplomacy involved in that decision. It is no different than if Indiana decided to become an independant nation. Several southern states tried this during the 1860s, and were defeated in the Civil War.
What facts? You've presented the party line, nothing more.
