Child takes teacher to court for loveual harbuttment

NEW DELHI: Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices to the city government, Delhi Music Society and seven others in a case related to the alleged loveual harbuttment of a 10-year-old girl by a piano teacher in February this year.
The girl's mother filed a pebreastion in court saying the piano teacher, who has been chargesheeted by the police following the registration of an FIR at Chanakypuri police station, had been reinstated two months ago in one of the schools run by the Society after a ''sham'' in- house inquiry. A division bench of Chief Justice B C Patel and Justice B D Ahmed issued notices to the Directorate of Education, Commissioner Industries, the teacher, two of the Society's staff and two others who gave a clean chit to the accused in an in-house inquiry last April.
Expressing surprise over the reinstatement, the bench asked for replies by August 4. The mother urged the court to direct the government to order an independent inquiry against the society and issue guidelines for protection of minor children from loveual harbuttment.
The case was registered under Sections 354 (outraging modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of women) of IPC on March 23.
According to the FIR, the girl had been taking music clbuttes for four years, and in January 2004 Dilip Solomon started teaching her every Friday. The girl alleged that on February 27 the teacher made advances towards her. Things got worse and on March 19 he allegedly asked her odd questions and offered to show her pictures. The girl told her mother who approached the police. Solomon was arrested on March 24 and is out on bail. The chargesheet was filed in April. The next date of hearing has been fixed for August 7.
Solomon told Newsline he was innocent and denied the allegations. ''I'm not a pervert and I could have never done it. I have a 16-year-old daughter. All the allegations are false.'' He said he was exonerated by a three-member inquiry panel which had two women members from outside and that other girl students and their parents had backed him.
He said the girl's mother was getting back at him since he had ticked her off for interfering too much.
