Can Asian Australians be trueblue 2790

Dreaming of Tibet
If the people selected for interviewing in this documentary film are indeed representative of the people who want to return to Tibet free of Chinese rule, then it is clear that they are waiting for...

Okay. I apologize for what I was thinking.

However, I repeat: "True Blue" isn't a phrase: it's a name, like "Moses Lim". What do you see as subtle about that? Do you really have difficulty seeing the difference between the adjectival term "united kingdom" and the name "United Kingdom"?

I wasn't. You didn't say "true blue ozzie", you said "true blue", which can apply to anyone of any nationality. You seemed to be implying that Australians wouldn't consider it an honour; that's why I asked "why?".

Yep. That's why it's irrelevant.

No. But we *are* talking across, rather than to, each other. I don't know why, yet.

That's a fundamental characteristic of True Blue. And it's the reason why I said "irrelevant" above.

Not so. You can choose to be a bigot, for example.

China's been civilized for 5000 years. Doesn't stop them from being one of, if not *the*, most bigoted peoples on the planet.

It's true because it is, in fact, a good default position to take, absent specifics. For example, without information on the individual, you can guess pretty reliably that an American will see his nation's military history as glorious, an accountant will disregard human values in buttessing a business, a Christian will regard his religion as monotheist, and a Sikh would like to separate the Punjab from India, but not at the expense of falling prey to Pakistan. Where it gets "sad" is in the minds of f***wits who don't proceed from the default to an informed position when specifics are available.
