Let's take a vote. Who here thinks I've mischaracterized the law and its pracbreastioners, claiming unfairly that they 1) serve the highest bidder, 2) tolerate injustice, and 3) are unmotivated to do better?

Engineering as a career. 3966
Ahhhhhahahahahaha And, lets see, the kid (how old is he?), makes all his decisions based on reading comic books. You were discussing matrix algebra and linear algebra with your son? How...

Yeah, that's not how the legal system works at all.

Federal court? The problems with meritless lawsuits are far greater and more numerous below that level. But including *those* numbers (which would only be fair) would not bolster your argument, you Lawyer you.

Engineers again. You have engineers on the brain.

The US v Microsoft debacle showed how brilliantly even the most august of our courts can immolate its raison d'etre when it runs afoul of an administration that serves at the pleasure of big business, the bigger the better. In this case, the special master was the subject matter expert, and we know how well that went for Larry Lessig. And America.

On that much, we agree. But that's no excuse for saying, "Oh well." If we do, criminal negligence will persist. Next time, many more will die.

Reality check. This thread arose as a discussion about the wisdom of a man's son majoring in law vs engineering or computer science, in the hopes of evading the trend toward outsourcing. My point was that employment in law is being exported too and it's likely to increase just as fast as engineering. Apparently all it took to set you off (and set off on a defensive tangent) were my words:

" There's a lot more supply than demand for lawyers. (Maybe there *is* a God...) "

Damn, you're thin skinned for an buttbuttin.

Randy
