The whole context is actually about a particular faith in a person.
When a person makes a lifestyle decision especially dealing with their faith, there would be a very big reason for them to change their faith. You just cannot decide change religions in the same manner like changing your clothes. That is why when a person normally changes into another religion, there is that "honeymoon" period wherer they become very zealous about their religion in order to settle into it.
So changing religions especially from Christianity to Islam is a very major step because the way of life is so different especially to Michelle and her past way of life.
I am sure (and I have seen) Muslims getting drunk but that is normally to the males. Their female counterpart is noware to be seen or if they are seen, they are kept modestly.
The thing is that it an offence for a Muslim to consume alcahol. It is similar to the Catholic Church telling their church to stop masturbating but 99% of the male teenagers have a good wank while the other 1% lies about it.
It depends on to their conscience whether they should consume alcohol but the teaching still remains the same.
The choice of words may not be as good as I like to. Many muslim women has been brought up (social engineered) that a lady in a muslim household should not promote themselves outside that would be considered as promiscrous. A more stricter code than the "wait until you get married" syndrome.
The fact is that many muslims households heavily restrict women as evident in their clothing styles.
Wow that is a very first I have ever heard about. This is total news to me.
Throughout my many travels in South East Asia (Malaysia and Singapore being prominent) not once have I seen a Muslim girl in a place that westerners considers as a bar. Both liberal or traditional style Muslims.
Islam is still a very closed religion and I have hypothesized that the one of the reasons Islamic religion attracting many western males is that they have power over females as compared to western culture.
