No probs, enjoy the trip!
Would agree with some of that but not the end bit. They may become very zealous in their belief, but not necessarily pedantic in their application of that zealousness. For instance they may decide that they suddenly have discovered a "god" they previously didn't believe in and believe it with all their hearts (this is where they would be zealous) but it doesn't mean that they are suddenly going to subscribe to all of the doctrines of that religion. In fact I'd suggest that such people are much more likely than those "born" into a religion to reject doctrines that conflict with their own morals, as they've already had a long time to settle into their own set of values, and would most likely fit the religion comfortably into that mindset rather than dogmatically becoming another religious clone.
Is there anything to say that she was previously a practising Christian??? And if she were is there anything to say that she was so hardcore that she never had love before marriage etc.etc.etc.???? Perhaps she just traded one mellow and moderate belief in a religion for an equally mellow and moderate belief in another religion? Or perhaps she was not previously religious at all?
One of the three I'm talking about is female, and she is one of the two that had a drink with us. She is one of my best friends, and has a bigger heart than most people I've met in my lifetime (Christian, Muslim, Atheist, doesn't matter what, most people couldn't compare when it comes to her care for her friends and family). She is Muslim, but applies her religion sensibly, doesn't seem to care about all the decorative rubbish involved, but lives strongly by a code of morality that would put most other religious people to shame regardless of their religion.
Which just goes to show how ridiculous it is basing your opinion on a follower of a religion on the teachings of that religion. How many Christians only eat fish on Friday??? etc.etc.etc. People are people, the religion doesn't change that.
But a woman having a drink with her friends in a bar is not advertising promiscuity. It's a woman having a drink with her friends.
Very true, and I feel sorry for those women. Did you know that one of the most outspoken women's rights groups on the face of this planet is a group made up of Muslim women from Afghanistan? They've been fighting since the Taliban came in, and are still fighting now to make sure they keep their newly restored rights. They were good enough to fire guns during the soviet invasion, they were good enough to go to universities after the Russians pulled out, and they ain't happy with any idea of losing those rights they proved through their actions they should have. Yet Afghanistan is traditionally pretty hard-core in the Islamic ways, they made the difference themselves against these traditions.
Surprised to hear that, she was brought up near Jakarta and her and her friends had an active night-life, so maybe you haven't looked around enough??? Also take a look at the concept of Islam Hadhari in that region, the change is coming faster by the day. Just the same as with Christianity from their hardcore loon running of things into what it is today with most being pretty mellow, starts with a few pebbles and becomes a landslide. I reckon the landslide in Islam has already started, the holdouts will die of old age and everything will shape up nicely.

As I said, I'm surprised. Tell me though, how would you know whether the girls in the bar are Muslim or not?

Only a sick f*** would want to have a subservient female as a partner. Missing out on 90% of what makes the relationship worthwhile.
Show me a Christian one.
That's like saying no model could possibly be Christian.
Have a good trip and stay safe, we might not agree on a lot, but I'd miss one of the rare few sane voices around here if you were to not find your way back.
