} } }This is the most deceptive half truth of all, which makes it much more }potent because there's an element of truth in it. } }Let me give you an analogy. } }You are in a cul de sac with a group of Anglo friends and relatives. On }the other side of the street is a group of neo-nazis. The one way out of }the cul de sac is suddenly cut off by a big group of any ethnic group }that don't like Nazis. They see your group and the Nazis and buttume }because you're all white that you are part of the same group, and intend }to beat the living daylights out of the lot of you. You tell them you're }not but they don't care, because you tolerated the Nazis on the street }there with you. The Nazis pull weapons out of their pockets and tell you }the only way you will survive this is to fight alongside them to get }out, as there's no way these 'ethnics' are going to distinguish between }you and the Nazis - they hate the lot of you because you're Anglo. Some }of your group huddle back and do nothing; others decide to try to save }themselves by cooperating with the Nazis. } }Immediately, the 'ethnics' shout - "SEE - most of the whites support }them!!!!" They make videos of you lined up with the Nazis against them }and publish them in papers, on the news, in propaganda, week after week, }year after year. } }Just the sort of remark you made, with the situation reversed, in your }comment above. And if you argue the problem with the analogy is that }"we" aren't attacking them at all, then just have a good look through }the postings on this newsgroup, and you'll see what they believe they }are up against. People like you who can't see the difference between }Muslims and persons. You give them no choice. The attacks on them are }relentless, aggressive and inaccurate. They may be ignorant in thinking }that you are all part of the one group, but you're just as ignorant by }thinking the same about them and giving them no choice to be otherwise. }
Interesting analogy, you do however make a good point which is that you have very different groups aligned against one another where suspicion and fear reign and each move on either side only contributes to more friction and confrontation. unlike you I don't believe that trying to calm or diffuse the situation will work, in fact it will only give the other side a perception of weakness and an opportunity to strengthen their position. You see I believe the time for calm negotiation and a peaceful outcome are well past. It now a matter of defeating and demoralising the other side with overwhelming force that is the only way out of this clash of civilisations and the only thingtheyunderstand and respect.
