It's not a crime and punishment kinda thing. It's the laws themselves. Let's make everything illegal, make everything a crime. All drugs aren't really bad and it's how you deal with them that can be. Amsterdam takes a much better humane approach and it works! One can make issues on and of anything and everything, but I take a more Darwin's approach. If you want to shoot up and die, so the better!
We have a history of stupid laws even a Consbreastutional Amendment to outlaw Alcohol. Who funded this opinions and pushed for it? The Religious Right and the Drug Manufacturers pushed and paid for it. Why? Money! The Opium laws were simply to punish Asia.
I think Vietnams rest Penalty for rape of children would be a great hit over here. But there are also laws against homoloveuality, sodomy even oral love. Laws are like anything else to much of a good thing makes them bad!
See in a lot of ways America is like the micro society of a gang it protects it's own turf, they just use laws to do it.
So when you have the ability to make any act Criminal and Punishable, it kind of impugns it's own integrity doesn't it!
