However comming up with the extra money for investment in expensive long term water and other infrastructure needed has been 'glossed over' and foisted onto the Australian tax payer and consumer. Some elites benefit, most of us pay in the form of higher taxes, overstretched infrastriucture, job comppebreastion and overcrowding where its nice to live (usually where there is good rainfall on the coast).

The other problem is that our water supply once cost about 30c kilolitre and came from a well organised series of dams, rivers, pipelines and catchments.

There are now no more of these natural sources of water available and new water will have to come from reverse osmosis of either wastewater or seawater(desalination) and will cost probably $2.00-$4.00 a kilolitre.

The plumbing costs of equiping a house with safe and legal rainwater catcment, storage tanks, pressurisation pumps and purification equipement is about $12,000 plus there are long term maintenance and power costs.
