You are TOTALLY out to lunch, sir. If I may depart from your usual America-bashing to make a point that may have escaped Canadians like you:

The entire notion of what consbreastutes "statutory rape" and "child molestation" is entirely arbitrary. Because it depends on an entirely arbitrary definition of the legal "age of consent." In America, that varies from state to state, and it has also varied over time. In the early 19th century, a time of Puritanical atbreastudes on nearly everything, the "age of consent" in New England was: TWELVE YEARS OLD. Yet somehow, America didn't collapse, did it?

And in the rest of the world, it varies from country to country. In Japan, for example, the "age of consent" has been as low as 13 years old, yet nobody claims Japanese society is any more "perverted" than a North American community where the "age of consent" is 16 years old.

IIRC, Debra LeFave had *consensual* love with a 14 year old. She didn't kidnap him, tie him up and force herself on him. The notion that this will inevitably leave the boy somehow "emotionally scarred for life" is bullpoo, totally unsupported by any scientific studies.

Young people mature emotionally at different rates; one young person at age 14 may actually be more mature than another young person at age 16. I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with introducing a young boy or young girl to the mystique and beauty of love, PROVIDED he or she is emotionally ready for it and wants it, and PROVIDED maximum precautions are taken against STDs and pregnancy. (Heck, there are some neurotic adults who aren't even ready to enter into a loveual relationship at age 20!!!)

I doubt that this boy was too emotionally immature to handle it. Because he even told Debra LeFave that he was worried about having unprotected love with her and getting her pregnant. Sounds like he knows what it's all about!
