The interesting thing is that why these traffickers like to transit through these asian countries when they knew that they will be sentenced to rest if caught.
Why cant they take a direct flight instead? If they were caught in sydney, they will ony be subject long imprisonment or life imprisonment only - subject to discount to max 10 years only .
So why do they want to take a risk to transit through these asian countries where rest penalty is mandatory.
If the syndicate is rich ( usually they are very rich since they make money from drugs) , they should buy a private plane - a gulf stream or a even 747 so that they can fly direct.
Also if the drug lords need couriers to take the drugs, why not let them take a direct flight from, say, golden triangle in Burma to syndney. This way means that they will not be caught, and even if they were caught in sydney, they will only be jailed up to life mprisonment.
Also in comparison, life imprisonment in australian jail may be more humane and civic than singapore. For all we know, in autralia there may be sauna room, tiger beer, marboro cigarette, Tv programs and a heated pool for prisoners to exercise.
