After a few decades are we rewriting history? The truth is though that the USA had sacrificed freely other's lives just to stop communism! After Korea and Vietnam it was careful not to risk a backlash from its own citizens.
You have certainly heard the story about the jinni and the bottle. In this case the jinni is the right wing religious fanatic arm of Islam. The West had held that bottle in their hands well secured until one day some ideological lunatics (Ronald and Co) have decided to use the jinni agains their greatest ideological foe, the communists!. (In a smaller extent the same was done using Christians too). The trouble comes though with putting back the jinni inside the bottle, which is never as easy as turning it loose on the World!
So, bloody tough cookie! You have created a monster, now you deal with it! And take all the blame for the misery caused! Who protected Saudi Arabia? Who supported the jihad and the Talliban in Afghanistan? Who trained bin Ladin? Who tolerated religious extremism just to undermine the atheistic communists? Who lead the Arab world towards religion and away from the secular communists? Guess who!
...everyone else! Just like an other well known religion called Christianity! Same heritage, same ideology and the same atbreastude of non tolerance.
