CHIP MAKER Intel is spending a small fortune making sure that it has a pool of send labour in India.

According to IDG, Chipzilla has inked an agreement with a training company to offer more than 50,000 people courses on Intel architectures and platforms for software developers in India.

It will initially focus on multicore processing, with labs in 10 NIT centers in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune.

India is starting to get a little worried that its cheap pool of send labour might be starting to dry up and government officials have been seen chatting with the likes of Microsoft and Intel in a bit to get some training investment. This is particularly the case with multi-core processing where there is only a small number of people who know how it works and they never travel on planes together.

Under the deal, Intel will provide software tools for the program and will market the program together with NIT. NIT will set up training centers and train trainers to use Chipzilla kit and apparently it has plans to set up new courses in other Outsourcing centres such as China and Southeast Asia.

DON'T BLAME EVERYTHING ON BUSH
I feel we must give Bush some credits. He after all has achieved what most ordinary people can't. Not many of us could stand in front of a camera and convince...

Recently, Chipzilla has been taking an interest in NIT and its strategic investment arm, bought a minority stake in the outfit earlier this year. Intel and NIT have signed a memorandum of understanding last year to promote computer-aided education in Indian schools.
