what I had written is:
I meant that religion permitting it has nothing to with a person keeping or not keeping concubines. It is a person's resources and ethics.
I hope I am not ending up justifying it. I don't approve of keeping concubines. I was just trying to de-link it from religion.
I was not aware that muslim are allowed to keep concubines by religon. However, now i know it, it does pretty well my understanding of quraan, allah, mohammed, islam.
Mohammed had proved hiself a phoney when he kept on preaching everybody else to keep maximum four wives, but made himself above of rules of Allah and kept about a dozen wives at the same time, that too in such an old age when he must not have had any physical desires remaining. Hope I am not offending 50+ folks of this ng.
There are accounts which narrate that in those times wealthy people used to keep dozens of wives, thus, Allah had stopped that to improve the condition of women. It is said that when people having 8 or 10 wives converted to Islam, mohammed asked to keep maximum 4 wives and leave all others. I am sure those persons must have been the first one to see how phoney mohammed was.
