Guns do not kill, people do! If they have no guns they find a knife, an axe or a big stick! Is this not so? That does not mean that guns should not be banned, but you have to find the proper reason for taking such a drastic measure. In the case of the drugs prohibition only adds to the problem instead of minimising it! Addictions can be controlled, treated and even cured if you do not have to fight the criminal elements in society at the same time. Why is so difficult to understand that concept? Go and read about the alcohol prohibition in the USA.
Well thought out education and providing good roll models is the best way to ensure that undesired behaviour is not picked up by the next generation. Have you not noticed that parents who smoke are likely to have children who also smoke? Parents who take drugs, have children who are also substance users! I have lost my father due to the effects of alcohol. Lucky for me that I have managed not to follow in his footsteps! It looks like I know more than you about how addiction works!
