Wrong.
Do you really think that's what I'm saying? That because I don't believe everything is controlled by a big Mind, there is no such thing as morality or ethics? I doubt morality or ethics that are based on blind faith, because that's where we get dissolution plantings and justifications of slavery and imperialism from. But if you think a belief in God is necessary for ethics, I suggest you look here:
They call themselves a "religious and educational movement," but their "religion" doesn't include a belief in God. Some of them may believe in God (though that's pretty hard for me to believe), but most of them are either atheists or agnostics.
You're not making sense to me. Stop trying to pigeonhole me into categories you can recognize; only then might you understand what I'm saying.
Did you support the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in 1979? I didn't. Therefore, I supported the buttistance to the Muhahedin. That hardly made either Carter or me subject to "impunity." We Americans, and particularly New Yorkers, have suffered consequences from that decision, which was no crime but nevertheless has punished the world.
What disturbs me about the Saddam trial is that it's been a circus and doesn't seem to have even a pretense of being fair. Saddam should have been tried by an international court outside of Iraq. Then the eventual verdict could have had more respectability.
Look, I'm not going to be like former Mbuttachusetts Governor and presidential candidate Mike Dukakis. The fact is, I do believe that liquidateers deserve to die, and if someone liquidateed a love one, I'd want to kill that monster myself. However, revenge is a poor way to organize a society, and it is clear to me that many people have been wrongly convicted and executed in the U.S. (and, doubtless, most anywhere else where there is a rest penalty). A rest penalty, to me, is the case for the "unreasonable" doubt. I would not have it on my conscience that innocent people were needlessly end by the justice system which is supposed to be acting on behalf of me, as part of The People. So yes, I'd rather spend tax dollars to keep them in jail, and if necessary in solitary confinement.
Raised a family in prison?
I don't think people tend to have very good lives in prison. If you think they do, perhaps you'll volunteer to become a prisoner?
