Well I know which religion you're trying to scapegoat, you've made that obvious. So lets look at the other two... From the Christian Bible:

Deuteronomy 13:6-9 "If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying: Let us go and worship other gods (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other, or gods of other religions), do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. You must certainly put him to rest. Your hand must be the first in putting him to rest, and then the hands of all the people."

Deuteronomy 17:3-5 "And he should go and worship other gods and bow down to them or to the sun or the moon or all the army of the heavens, .....and you must stone such one with stones and such one must die."

Corinthians 6:14-15 "Believers must not commune with unbelievers. What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness, light with darkness, believers with infidels?"

Matthew 10:34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Matthew 19:29 "And every one who hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life."

Matthew 10:35-36 "For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -- a man's enemies will be the members of his own household."

Some Muslims, just like some Christians have been no different throughout the ages. The Crusades obviously never happened then. Where does Islam have that? In fact it sounds much like the calls of...

Well, I read your article and unlike some others, I read it right through (in a few minutes - what's with the miniscule attention span...

And how about from one of the Hindu Smritis:

Laws of Manu 270. A once-born man (a Sudra), who insults a twice-born man with gross invective, shall have his tongue cut out; for he is of low origin.

I hope you are not suggesting that I didn't take the time to read Sylvia's post, Rifty. Because I would be quite offended if you are. If...

271. If he mentions the names and castes (gati) of the (twice-born) with contumely, an iron nail, ten fingers long, shall be thrust red-hot into his mouth.

272. If he arrogantly teaches Brahmanas their duty, the king shall cause hot oil to be poured into his mouth and into his ears.

I wont see unreasoning bigotry, if you judge all Muslims by the actions of the few then you...

Or from Gautama Dharma Sutra 12.4 - 12.6 If the shudra intentionally listens for committing to memory the veda, then his ears should be filled with (molten) lead and lac; if he utters the veda, then his tongue should be cut off; if he has mastered the veda his body should be cut to pieces.

Now where is there an ounce of niceness in any of that?

Very relevant. In this day and age there are more problems from Islamic fundamentalist loons than the fundamentalist loons of any other religion, but I'd put that down to the lack of education and centuries of subjugation (most recently by European powers) of many of the areas this religion is predominant in, not anything that is any more inherent to the religion than is inherent to either of the other two religions being discussed. All 3 are nasty vile pieces of work when you're looking for that sort of content. Equally all 3 can be virtuous, great religions if interpreted correctly.
