manusmriti is NOT a hindu tome !!! Its a lawbook written in ancient times....its not revered as a religious book, neither is it followed today.....infact it is one of the most reviled books of India today
Secondly - it had nothing against any other religion...and thats because there was no concept of a 'hindu' then....even now the concept of 'hindu' has evolved due to the contrast with other religious beliefs and the beliefs of the indigenous people of India.
You have ranted about the killing of 2000 people in Gujarat....do you know what provoked those riots (It isnt justified I agree)....but its the so called 'minority' of Indian muslims that did this
have you read of the Mumbai plant blasts....have you read about the kashmiri pandits' exodus from Kashmir ? Have you read abou the killings of Noakhali
You are trying to take a secular viewpoint on most of the things....but you need to appreciate that Indian Hindus have reached this point after decades of patience......I am not a Hindu but a Sikh....but I can still vouch for this....Hindu ethos is essentially secular...but the limits have been pushed way too far for Hindus to take it lying down.....we have plant blasts everyday...islamnic terrorism is known to us for decades....the west is only waking up to it now
Violence never justifies anything...neither is violence justified anywhere...but in a centuries old struggle that Indians-hindus have faced, there is an adjustment of perception since the Gujarat riots....and I can tell you....the number of riots have gone down in india over the last 2 decades....becasue a Hindu retaliation follows everytime muslims create problems.....thats an uneasy balance but it offers some peace finally to indians.....though now you have plant blasts replacing riots....did you read about the attacks on Hindu places of worship recently ? You would rarely find an attack on a muslim place thesedays....its only when Hindus are provoked that they react violently.....you can point out that its for the police and the courts to bring the culprits to justice....but that is not how things may work in a complex country like India always
