Actually, at least part of it is learned behavior. From the time they are babies, they see dad flying off the handle and beating mom. So they grow up thinking that's the way men behave, especially toward women. Further, their "religion" teaches that women bear the responsibility for male urges. It was this neat little thing that Mohammad thought up to relieve men of the burden of conscience regarding love, women, and power. So when muslim males get torqued about anything at all, it's pretty easy to find a woman to kick around to make them feel less powerless and in control of something.
Another major contributor is the anbreasthesis of natural selection. Far too many muslim women aren't allowed to choose their own husbands. Women tend to select for intelligence as a very high priority when selecting a mate. When families select a mate for a daughter, they tend to select for money. And family wealth is often not a good predictor of intelligence, especially in societies that recently valued or may still value slavery as a means of attaining or keeping wealth. So women are breeding with males of lesser and lesser intelligence who react in increasingly primitive ways. And inbreeding in some muslim countries, like Arabia, is a terrible problem because they often marry their first cousins.
