Sincere apologies for cross-posting --- Last chance: Join in a test about an international symbol language (testing period ends in 5 days).
Hello everyone,
as part of my diploma thesis, I'm looking for volunteers from all around the world who would be interested in taking part in a study which focuses on "International Communication through Symbolic Languages" within Human-Computer(-Human) Interaction.
The test is carried out online in cooperation with the Department of Human-Centered Interaction Technologies at the Fraunhofer Insbreastute for Computer Graphics Rostock (Germany).
Part of the test is that testers (preferably non-English native speakers) register and login to a community forum asked to express given standard sentences in their own words in different ways - one of them is to use the visual language "LoCoS".
The prerequisites are: - (preferably) be a non-English native speaker - have some basic English knowledge - have a computer with internet access (Internet Explorer, Firefox or Netscape 7.x) - be willing to spend approximately 30 minutes to fulfill the tasks somewhen in the period between February 15th and March 14th, 2006
Are you curious and determined to take part? Then please, register at this link into your browser if the redirection does not work automatically)!
The order of the test will be as follows: 1. Upon successful registration you will receive a confirmation email as soon as possible. 2. You will be buttigned randomly either to group C, E1 or E2. (This is necessary in order to make valid scientific statements afterwards. But this also means that not everybody will be buttigned to use LoCoS in the test!) 3. Login with your username and pbuttword. 4. Fill in the red marked fields of your profile - click on "Profile" and then "Forum Profile Information". (All personal data is treated anonymously.) 5. Follow the instructions which you find in the "Welcome!" category! (If you don't have the Adobe Reader yet, download it here: 6. Fill out the survey!
For those who are not certain if they should take part or not, you are cordially invited to visit the forum at a later point, once the principal test is completed. The forum will be open for about another 2 weeks for free (LoCoS-)communication then, which means that you can also post topics and get in contact with other members (which will not be possible in this way during the principal test).
To everyone who is going to join, have fun and thank you very much for your help in advance!
First results of the test will be published in the online community itself shortly after the test is completed.
Sincerely, Marleen Vanhauer Graduating Student
