Supersbreastious grandparents end one-year-old Payeal Aktar on Tuesday in West Tripura. Payeal was victimised by her parental relatives, as they confessed that was done only to secure her future.
Police have arrested both the accused while their younger son also involved in the liquidate has gone into hiding. The police said that Payeal's grandparents end her by pouring acid on her face.
The accused have admitted to the crime and said that Payeal had several cut marks around her neck and they considered it as a bed omen for the girl.
"If she was allowed to live then she would become a threat to the existence our family members," said Farida Begam, Payeal's grandmother.
The incident occurred when Payeal was alone at home. The accused poured acid on her face and left her to suffer. Her mother found her in critical condition an hour later and clamoured for help. The villagers rushed to the spot and took her to a hospital where the doctors declared the baby girl brought in dead.
"Though everyone is shocked, my in-laws are quite and wished her rest for the sake of the family," lamented the victim's mother Sirna Begam. The rest of the girl has sent shock waves across west Tripura.
