They don't want to be dominated by the Javanese. They are already a multicultural 'state' and always were multicultural.
We support their stand against Indonesian imperialism and repression. We reject the pusillanimous stand taken by Howard and Downer, who seem to be shaking like leaves when the Indonesian Prez says he wants us to buckle under even more than we have. They are showing the backbone of a jellyfish - they don't even have the guts to tell another country, after making a sensible decision first time round and getting their bums kicked for it by their trading partner, that we will decide our own refugee policy based on real principles and not fake ones.
You are on a hiding to nothing identifying this as a rejection of multiculturalism, instead of a national (multicultural!) revolt. To reject multiculturalism would mean that they would need to destroy each other, last man standing wins. Some victory it would be - but yes, it would be an end to multiculturalism in the state, that's for sure. For the last bloke alive.....
