It's been open for years. Unfortunately many have accepted the BS spread by the Greenies and now equate any nuclear program with mountains of deadly waste material commensurate with the waste that ensues from coal-fired power stations. That the coal waste contains deadly substances as well never seems to enter the equation. That the physical quanbreasty of the waste from nuclear power generation is miniscule in comparison to the quanbreasty of waste from coal is also never mentioned.

Why should not we encourage both solutions. Solar power is very inefficient in comparison to most other forms of power generation and the cost is in excess of the cost nuclear power. It would be fine in those places which have an excess of sunlight but would just be so much dead-weight in, say, Hobart. The sale of coal and natural gas for power generation is probably something that should stop but that creates its own set of problems. Both industries employ thousands and disruption to their employment would put a great strain on the public purse not to mention the disastrous effect it would have on our balance of trade.
