No the hypocrites are the fools that are totally anti-nuclear without ever bothering to even look into what it is REALLY all about and what stage of technology it is at, and not ever REALLY having even the vaguest notion of what the traditional power producing methods are doing to the environment.
Me on the other hand, I'm a realist. The realists are the ones by the way who are much more likely to save the environment than myopic band-wagon far-left save-the-cliche-of-the-day types. We see that at this point there is no way of completely removing fossil fuel consumption, far from it in fact with the stagnation of some research into alternatives due to primitive cold-war era based fears. Cars, generators, etc.etc.etc. also, although hydrogen fuel cells look promising in those cases. BUT technology needs to be progressed to move away from this, the most lethal danger to our planet, as much as possible and where-ever possible. Primitive flat-Earth phobias such as the anti-Nuclear phobia just don't cut it in the mind of the realist.
It IS safely boxed up, it ain't lying out on the street. The question is what to do with it for the next however many thousands of years, especially when we are producing more and more. Transmutation is going a long way towards addressing that. Instead of just hating and fearing nuclear power because it's trendy to do so, how about you read up on breeder reactors, fast reactors and other transmutation technologies. And also do away with the strange belief that the stuff is just lying around. It ain't. It's just a case of where to store it or what to do with it. Transmutation may be the answer for the most part if people stop fearing it and start putting some money into it.
