If the law is not right, then change it. If, as a result of the change and your loved ones die from drugs abuse, then don't blame the law, blame yourself. Blame your loved ones for their own weaknesses. If drugs abound like nobody's biz, shoulder that blame. The weight of the world is upon one's shoulders. There are many ways to tackle it but what is the best way and the most effective way? Which is heavier, the small evil or the big evil.? Which do you want to choose. Do you wish to have the population to have easy access to drugs or difficult access to it. If the access is easy and cheap, what will be the outcome to the nation???
If the rest penalty is too harsh, by all means, abolish it. But be ready for the huge increase in volume of flow of drugs from the Golden triangle. Be prepared for the consequences.
I won't mind sitting in jail for 5 years and when I come out, I have a few million dollars in my bank. But no, I don't do drugs because I know the hangman's noose awaits me if I get caught. Afterall, drugs is a matter of demand and supply economics.
The Law in Singapore is nothing more than the words and wishes of Lee Kuan Yew.
Law is law... as we all know in Singapore & Malaysia, drug cases carries hang to rest penalty. Singapore standing firm and giving in to pressure from Aus is the right thing to do. With Deepest Sympathy and Heartfelt Condolences to The family of the late
