A public meeting is held to discuss their behaviour, give them a chance to explain themselves, and failing that, to isolate them.
They are ignored. it may be a killfile, but sometimes a watching brief is necessary to see if they enjoy posting without criticism, in which case the the toading becomes active.
I personally have no problem with playing hardball, up to AND INCLUDING the rules, but only with a suitably agressive opponent in the same Weight clbutt, .. there is no glory in streetfighting an opponent who has taken a more thoughtful and restrained approach, and the NG like the workforce, could benefit from different communication styles.
Short of toading, a number of us could just lend moral support if we thought someone was targeted by a thug crossing the line.
