You should read her own statement on that, which is corroborated by the Customs Official's version except that he buttumed she had placed the drugs there in the first place. She said she opened the relevant portion of the bag a short time before it was due to be presented for inspection, and saw there was something suspicious in it. She shut it quickly and then when the Customs Officer wanted to inspect it, panicked.
This indicates only that she knew something was there that shouldn't have been. She may have placed it there before leaving home, or it may have been placed there without her knowledge. Neither you nor I know that - we can only guess.
What would you have done if you opened your bag just before presentation to Customs in a place like Indonesia that has severe laws for traffickers and found drugs in it? One thing is for sure - you'd be bloody terrified, which isn't an atmosphere for cool clear thinking, is it?
I'm not carrying a flag for her or against her - I am saying that either circumstance could account for it, and would answer your question. There is, of course, no proof that she DID open the bag just before the customs inspection. Either you take her word for that or you don't. It seems plausible to me. When you are trying to get through official business in an airport terminal you try to be as cooperative as possible, and opening a bag ready for inspection is not unusual. I've done it myself.
