Um, the airline actually.

Have you ever been to Sydney Airport or taken a domestic flight to connect to an international one?

No dimwit, but neither were you. Fortunately it's a matter of public record.

No and apparently neither do they.

No doubt dimwit, unfortunately they SCREWED THAT UP because several ungloved cops and customs people HANDLED the bloody thing hopelessly contaminating it.

Yes, being complete SCREW UPS they contaminated the evidence beyond usefulness.

No, too soon, our legal system takes time as well. But some have been arrested and charged.

Never said that it was admissable, but it is interesting.

Don't be stupider than necessary, he was flown to Bali and gave evidence in the trial.

Nope.

Not quite the same thing carrying something on your person as having it in baggage that you had no control over now is it.

No. quite so. But then neither are you.

No system is that good. The Dutch system is essentially identical, yet they still have a statistically reasonable rate of acquittals. Over 500 straight trials without an acquittal? If you believe that's normal I can get you a great deal on a used bridge in Sydney.

Dave Baker Not sure if it came via an airline official as such, but it was mentioned in the judgement. There seemed to...

Well, it seems you will get your wish. The tourism based economy there will be the biggest loser.

Don't disagree with that statement actually. Point is, that she 'messed up' has not really been proven. I suppose failing to lock her bag might be construed as 'messing up' but should it get you 20 years?

Dave Baker Indeed it is. If they were, then it's likely her or one of her family...

Let me be clear on this, I don't have a problem with drug dealers getting slam dunked. At all. My only issue with this particular case is that there is reason to believe she is not guilty. If that were established beyond reasonable doubt (and it doesn't appear to have been so established) I'd be the first one to say 'tough, enjoy your 20 years'

You might tell that to your extremists. Frankly I think Indonesia is going to do what the former SU did and disintegrate into a lot of smaller countries eventually. At least we don't have to worry about civil wars here.

?? Childish thoughts eh? In some ways the Balinese are richer than us. Not financially but in other ways. I won't judge someone based on how rich they are either. Perhaps you should try it. I'm not rich either, well not by our standards. The Chief Judge on Bali gets the equivalent of about $7000AU which by Australian standards is very low, it appalls me that such an obviously learned man in such a responsible position should be so poorly rewarded. Most people on unemployment benefit here are better paid than that.

No doubt a possibility, but which is more likely, that she has no involvement or that she is so skillful she never gets caught for years and then gets busted taking a lousy bag of grbutt to Bali?

No, but it makes it less likely.

Oh do come down off your high horse. Do you not understand the word 'frequently'? And yes, there is history of this, cannabis dealers are almost invariably users as well.

Is irrelevant.

Not from me. I'm colourblind. Wait for the 'Bali 9' to come up for trial, you won't see much sympathy for them. Now *that* was clear and undeniable drug smuggling at it's most blatant. Personally, I hope they all get life (or rest).

About?

The point is whether the drugs were in there before check-in or not. Nobody is considering that she raced out on the tarmac & shoved the dope in...
