I'm not whining, as you so delicately put it - perhaps you should read the post before you mouth off.

I have my own business through which I put my fuel expenses, so firstly I can claim back the GST immediately, and secondly claim the cost of fuel as a full tax deduction.

So personally, it has a minor effect on me.

It is the poor P.A.Y.E player that is having a rough time, where they have little or none in the way of deduction for fuel expenses.

If you don't have to worry about the price of fuel, which I can only presume from your rather ignorant post, then half your luck - but even Howard expresses concern about the rising cost of fuel and its impact on the household budget.

My point about Howard, although it obviously escapes you, is expressed very eloquently in George Orwell Animal Farm - all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

I suggest you read it - you might learn something.

So to answer your question:

Firstly, Howard can stop having a tax on a tax. GST should be paid on the cost of petrol minus the Federal Govt tax, not on the total amount.

Secondly, if true pricing parity exists, the cost of fuel should fall as quickly as it rises with the change of O-S crude oil. Currently prices will rise within 5-7 hours, but take up to 14 days to fall. this should be controlled by an outside body set up by the govt, but not the govt. or petrol companies who all benefit from the current situation of keeping prices up longer than necessary.

I could think of a few more - but frankly you're not worth anymore of my time.
