About Musharraf, I agree that he is about the best of a bad bargain, However a democratically elected Benazir or even Nawaz(though his anti democratic shenanigans in his second incarnation, were veering towards a possible palace coup) would be much better for Pakistan and for India, The reason why India cannot deal with a dictator is because another dictator or a subsequent democratic government (would greater justification)would in all probability renege on agreements made by an undemocratic predecessor. Thus for enlightened self interest India should do everything short of signing any final agreement with Pakistan, open up borders, beef up SAFTA and trade with Pakistan etc, but only sign agreements with a democratic Pakistan.
