Actually *time* was not the factor in making Germany a revitalised country. Hitler himself was the factor. The prevailing economic mantra at the time was Gold being the basis for the creation of money. Even though America had most of it, the country still descended into Depression. Hitler had the vision to put Hjalmer Schacht in charge of the money creation and he did what Hitler wanted by using the money creation all the world uses today...without Gold. He was ahead of his time and made Germany into a powerhouse. But you still needed brains to begin with. Note the difference between what Hitler achieved with no Gold, and today's Saudi's with mbuttes of money in banks in America but no brains or initiative to make something with it for the future. After the war the Americans didn't pursue Schacht as a war criminal like the others because they wanted to pick his brains. He became very rich as a consultant as you can imagine and kept what is now called a ' low profile '. Keynes got all the kudo's after the war but Schacht was way ahead of the field before Keynes even got his book together.
