Also direct from the source - Rann and the govt officials, with media in tow, caused all sorts of problems with their parties and official engagements at the site, dropping their pants and playing with each others privatess simply to gain votes in the eyes of the public.
As with the ineptness shown with the lease of SA electricity to the Chinese - Rann's government didn't tie up the contracts tight enough to stop the current delay happening.
It rests completely with government incompetenence and inability to write a strong legal contract which keeps big business in check.
There are also another couple of points about the treatment of Virgin and Qantas with regards to their leases etc, but that is quite involved. Let's just say it is similar to the way the egg producers of SA were ripped off with their poultry licences.
As for the trams - you are obviously from SA, and can see the joke in running the line up to O'connell St.
Still, I suppose it's good if you want to go to the Odeon Theatre and see a euro love movie, or have a meal at the Pink Pig Wine Bar.
