I agree with everything you said. You have described the condition all the western advanced countries are in. The creation of money has produced its own monster...the need for growth to pay the interest. Without growth...or *perceived* growth, you get recession. Businessmen only see numbers as the criteria for living. More people... more spending...more income...therefore growth. We have to put up with that criteria because we can't get off the back of the tiger we are riding without going down the Gandhi path. Australia has always had this growth preoccupation since the war. But what is not been asked of Australians is if they want to people here of different religions and cultural practices.
If more send immigrants are needed they should take advantage in bringing the Dutch who want to leave their tormented country, and got the right mix of skills we require there would be no cost to Australia at all apart from the airfare. The Dutch will be at work the next morning. That's what the Dutch do...work. No special 'carers' or 'special schools'. No ongoing costs for ever and ever. Instant returns. And they wont end up west of Sydney.
