Many thanks for your comments. Actually, these remarks about thousands of Chinese spies in Australia, Canada, USA, New Zealand, etc. are difficult to believe. However, even were they correct, focus ought to be on the more basic issue of the existence of spies, not distracted by the irrelevant mathematical calculation of just how many of them exist.

The main reason, as I understand it, that Mr. Chen has provided for his defection is China's government's opposition to the Falun Gong movement. In my opinion, such opposition is one of a number of elementary errors in the functioning of human society. It makes sense to have reasonable, transparent and just laws and apply these laws fairly. Organizations that are supposedly non-governmental and not opposed to the government do not deserve attention as organizations. In fact, as Australia and other "democratic" nations demonstrate even organizations disagreeing with government policy can in practise co-exist with functioning government. The key is respect for the law, for fairness and for fellow human beings.

You know, there are mathematical, scientific rules required for a vessel to escape the gravitational pull of a planet. Even Einstein by flapping his arms cannot do it, but Einstein could calculate what was required, could know what was necessary and realize the essential steps needed.

Well, this issue of spies, Falun Gong and paranoia against outsiders points to certain fundamental principles required for humanity to escape the chains it has imposed on itself.

There is no intrinsic need for spies. Students are another thing entirely. Let there be thousands of Australians, even millions of them, studying Chinese and learning about Chinese culture. Why not? Chinese culture is human culture. The accomplishments of China are human accomplishments. All humans ought to delight in this and surely they ought to know more about such attainments by their fellow humans than most now do. So, if some Chinese wish to learn about Australia, that ought to be a good thing.

What is not good is the game of secrecy. This game is a subset of the great game of power politics, the evolutionary survival of pecking order activities in the lower species. So, individuals, groups, companies, gangs, factions, countries, alliances strive like chickens and dogs to rise higher in a pecking order. This is rather like flapping the arms and imagining one can reach escape velocity above the planet. So, even while some enunciate that it is naive to think of doing anything other than flapping the arms, than trying to hide things and trying to find things in a great power pame of secrets, reality remains, scientific truth, mathematical fact continue as universal constants.

This flapping, this mindset of seeking to create distrust of China, of trying to hide stuff from China, of attempting to bother Falun Gong, of Falun Gong messing with Chinese politics, instead of focusing on philosophical detachment from politics, of playing compebreastive games in all the mosaic of opposing factions -- all of this is the array of the symptoms of the human disease, indications of what has to be overcome in order for humans to achieve escape velocity above this planet.

Wherever this individual was on that specific date, the more fundamental issue is that all Australians, all Chinese and all other humans realize that the culture of keeping secrets and then trying to ferret them out is wrong, as more basically is the practise of competing against fellow humans, divided into so many diverse segments. The first point of understanding is that each individual and each of the mulbreastude of human groupings are all belonging to the same species. This is not naive. If a planet is inhabited by millions, even billions of arm flappers, it is not naive to realize that escape velocity cannot be attained by this method. Even if it is instinctive, a product of so many generations of evolution, such evolution does not have to stop at this dead end. Humans can think beyond the rest of such deadend evolution and continue to progress.

So, let Australians and others study Chinese language, culture, beneficial understandings and let them share their Australian attainments with all interested from China and anywhere else. These are all human achievements and all humans can take delight in studying them.

The aggressors, the compebreastive, the divisive, the secretive, the greedy, the ambitious, the power players trying to be clones of chickens and dogs, help them to see they really are humans and humans can be better than chickens and dogs. Recognize the value of easing up on Falun Gong, and let Falun Gong be truly a religious organization focusing on philosophical detachment from politics and advancing the understanding of the human species.
